Today I want to look at one of my very favorite miracles that Jesus ever performed in his earthly ministry... It's the miracle of the Woman with the issue of blood. I love reading about this miracle, because in the natural there was absolutely no hope... but when the Glory shows up in your life... everything changes!
...a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?"
"You see the people crowding against you," his disciples answered, "and yet you can ask, Who touched me?"
There are a few things that stand out to me in regards to this miracle. I've underlined them above... because I want to point them out to you. Now, I don't believe that there is a magical formula for creating miracles... but I do believe that there are spiritual principles that must be noticed. As we take note of how this miracle happened we can be assured that if God did it before, He can do it again! Now... I know it's not as simple as ABC when it comes to working miracles... but that's part of the mystery and beauty of following the Spirit. We must be dependent upon Him. So, as we begin to examine the working of this miracle, I want you to allow God's voice to speak to you.
But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."
~ Mark 5:25-34 (NIV, emphasis mine)
Let's pray together right now: "Father, in the name of Jesus, as I reflect upon Your Word please speak to my heart, encourage my faith and give me boldness to obey. Amen."
#1. She Heard.
Who are you listening to? What are you listening to? Words of doubt create despair. Words of hopelessness create failure. Words of encouragement create faith. Words of healing create miracles. (See: Romans 10:17
; Galatians 3:5)
#2. She Thought. What are you meditating upon? Whatever you focus on will increase in your life! Your thoughts will cause you to take action. (See: Proverbs 23:7)
#3. She Responded. Miracles always require action! A loving word... a giving hand... your willingness to respond will activate your willingness to receive. (Read this passage: James 2:14-26)
#4. She Received. There is a time to give, but there is also a time to receive. Miracles will come to those who are willing to receive them. (See: Mark 11:24; Matthew 10:8; 2 Peter 1:3)
#5. She Spoke Up. Your testimony will create miracle dimensions for others. Supernatural portals are opened in the spiritual realm as you begin to speak up and tell of what God's done for you! (See: Revelation 12:11)
